Obituary For Rosa Strong-Williams

Rosa Strong-Williams was born March 22, 1930, to Will and Willie Mae Lott Strong in Chula, Georgia being the first of five children. Mother Rosa transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord surrounded by loved ones at her home on January 16, 2026 in Leary, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her sister (Mary Alice Douglas), her son (Bobby Strong Sr.), and her grandsons (Bobby Strong Jr. and Bradley Strong).

In her early years, she grew up as the daughter of sharecroppers, which significantly limited her educational opportunities. However, the struggles she faced did not diminish her hopes and dreams for a better future. As a devoted mother of thirteen (13) children, she prioritized education for her offspring, striving to ensure they achieved the highest levels of academic success possible. God favored our mom who lived a long, fruitful and fulfilling life, reaching the age of 95. We hold deep gratitude that the Lord blessed her to witness His goodness, as expressed in Psalms 27:13: “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Her faith and strength continue to inspire us all.

Mother Rosa accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, joined Bethel CME Church and became a faithful member where she served until the Lord called her to her eternal home. As an active member of Bethel CME Church, she served in several capacities, including on the missionary board, stewardess board, and Mother of the church. Mother Rosa instilled in her children that God is the author and finisher of their faith.

She generously shared her encouragement, unwavering support, and spiritual guidance with her community, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. She was a source of warmth and joy, known for her incredible cooking and the delicious meals she prepared for family and friends. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent together. A compassionate soul, Mom dedicated her time to visiting the sick and shut-in, bringing comfort and companionship to those in need. She had a special place in her heart for infants and children, nurturing and babysitting many over the years. Her kindness extended to everyone she met, as she never met a stranger, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. An animal lover, Mom found joy in caring for pets and often shared her home with furry companions. She had a passion for the ocean and ships, especially visiting Hilton Head, Jekyll Island and Savannah. She enjoyed the calmness of the waters. Known for her impeccable style, she took pride in dressing elegantly, reflecting her vibrant personality. Mom leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of her sisters: Elizabeth Douglas of Albany, GA, Martha Harrell of Albany, GA, and Ada (Clennon) Harrell of Whigham, GA; her twelve living children: Robert Williams of Stephentown, NY, David (Helen) Williams of Albany, GA, Rufus Williams of Leary, GA, Emma Kirtley of Chicago, IL, Chester (Jeanette) Williams of Atlanta, GA, Billy (Reba) Barkley Jr. of Ponte Vedra, FL, Saralyn Barkley of Leary, GA, Mary Barkley of Griffin, GA, Willie (Carolyn) Barkley of Conyers, GA, Cynthia Daniels of Roswell, GA, Timothy (Patrice) Barkley Sr. of Albany, GA, and Ronald Williams of Richmond, VA; three very special Goddaughters: Deidre Barnett, Sonja Parker, and Eardine King; a precious Godson: Donald White, a primary care physician, Dr. Robyn Mann- Johnson, a caring CNA, Harley Gossett, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mother Rosa will always be remembered for her caring spirit and her steadfast dedication and love for others.

Aunt Rosa wasn't just my aunt; she was a source of light. I think we can all agree that her smile was more than just a gesture—it was contagious. It was impossible to stay in a bad mood when Aunt Rosa was in the room. Beyond her kindness, she had those wonderful, unique passions that made her who she was. I will always cherish our long conversations about her love of goats. It was such a reflection of her spirit—playful, grounded, and full of life. Aunt Rosa, you leave behind a legacy of laughter and a heart that was always open. You will always hold a special place in my heart. Rest in peace."your Nephew Leroy Strong
