Obituary For Mirian Hunter

Pastor Mirian Hunter was born on July 5, 1940, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to her loving parents, Isaac Hunter, Sr. and Mozella Hunter, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a longtime resident of Albany, Georgia, where she lived a life marked by service, faith, and unwavering dedication to God. Pastor Mirian was educated at Hutto High School in Bainbridge and later earned her General Equivalency Diploma through the Albany Area Adult Education Program. She continued strengthening both her professional and spiritual foundation by completing her Business Education Certification at the Albany Area Vocational Technical School and earning a Two-Year Certificate of Study from the Word of Faith Bible Institute in Dallas, Texas. Throughout her life, Pastor Mirian worked faithfully and diligently in several professional roles. She served as an Office Administrator at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, an Accounting Clerk with the Cargill Poultry Division, and a Receptionist and Secretary for Dr. Ajayi. She continued her journey of service as the Secretary and Bookkeeper for the Albany Urban League, where she later became an Emergency Consumer Service Program Counselor. She also served as the Medical Secretary for the Speech Department at the Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center, a Distribution Clerk Typist with the United States Post Office, and a File Clerk for the Dougherty County Department of Family and Children Services. In every position, she exemplified integrity, commitment, and excellence. A woman after God’s own heart, Pastor Mirian was known as a God chaser and a powerful, anointed speaker, teacher, and preacher of the Word. She was ordained through Calvary Christian Fellowship of International Ministries in Oklahoma City and served faithfully as a Pastoral Care Minister at Victory Tabernacle Assembly of God from 1994 to 2001. Her passion for souls extended far beyond the pulpit; she ministered bi-weekly for ten years at Calhoun State Prison, served as a Certified Spiritual Counselor and Soul Winner, and continually poured into others through prayer and outreach. She was the President of the Faith in Action Prayer & Praise Team, the Co-Founder of Faith in Action Outreach Ministry, a proud member of Albany Clergy Women, Inc., a member of Aglow International, and a devoted participant in the ministries of Victory Tabernacle Assembly of God and Sherwood Baptist Church. On Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the age of 85, Pastor Mirian entered into eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Cassandra (Ray) Floyd, Alexandria (Ray) Gaines, Johnnie (Larry) Jackson, Larry (Vernell) Jackson, Chestina (Tony) Moore, and Curtis (Robin) Gammage. Her love extends to her grandchildren: Alethea Sheri (Rodney) Keaton, Reginald (Lakeasha) Floyd, Anthony Moore, Michael (Quinton) Moore, Sean (Afton) Hatcher, Trey M. Jackson, Johnnish Shankari (Taisha) Williams, Jeconiah Jackson, Alex Gaines, Joshua (Ciera) Moore, and Jasmine Jackson. She was also Service Service blessed to witness the growth of her great grandchildren: Jayla Floyd, Kaydin Keaton, Darius Floyd, Harmony Green, Amira Jackson, Aubrey Jackson, Dru Moore, Zuri Hatcher, and Daxton Moore. She is survived by her siblings Leona Hayes, Bobby Hunter, and sister-in-law Carolyn Hunter, all of whom deeply cherished her wisdom, strength, and love. She now rejoices in the presence of those who preceded her in death, including her parents; her beloved son Darius Jackson; her grandson Jarius Jackson; and her siblings Hattie Mae Johnson, Isaac Hunter, Jr., and Carrie Belle Taylor. Pastor Mirian was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren who served in the military, even though she was not a service member herself. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her heart for God and people touched countless lives through ministry, mentorship, and compassionate service. Her favorite scripture, Psalm 121:1–2, guided her steps and anchored her faith: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord…” Pastor Mirian Hunter’s life was a living testimony of God’s grace, faithfulness, and power. She ran her race well, fought a good fight, and finished her course with joy. Her legacy of prayer, love, and unwavering faith will continue echoing through the generations she leaves behind.
