The Bible teaches that we are citizens of Heaven. We sojourn on Earth. We are pilgrims passing through. On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Sister Irene E. Williams transitioned from labor to reward. She fulfilled her earthly purpose and was called Home to rest in GOD’s Eternal Garden. If she could speak to us now, she would remind us to “Write This One In The Book.”
Irene was born on September 21, 1945, in Damascus, Georgia, to the late Arvester and Lillie Mae Williams. Irene was a beacon of love and faith. She accepted CHRIST at an early age and joined Willis Grove AME Church under the leadership of the late Pastor W. L. Lee. Irene continued her faith journey as a member of Willis Grove AME Church. She served faithfully as MOTHER OF THE CHURCH.
Irene received her education at Kestler School in Damascus, Georgia, then transferred to Washington High School in Blakely, Georgia. She graduated in 1964. After graduation, Irene moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked several years before returning to Damascus, Georgia.
Upon returning home, Irene was a person of many talents. She was an entrepreneur, where she owned and operated Jedic Records and T-Shirts and was also co-owner of Golden Griddle in Blakely, Georgia. She was a dedicated employee working at the McDowell Store as a cashier for many years and Damascus Peanut Company where she later retired.
Irene was a faithful and devoted caregiver to her late mother Sister Lillie Mae Williams.

Irene enjoyed singing with her family in the choir at her home church, Willis Grove AME. She was a member of the Blakely City Wide Choir for several years and her hobbies were fishing and yard work.
Irene was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvester and Lille Mae Williams; and three siblings, John Henry Williams, Alvester Williams, and Mary Ann Williams.
Her legacy of love and faith will continue through her family: her one daughter, Valerie (Sheriff William) Price; two sons, Keith Williams and Aundra (Kunesha Wimberly) Williams, all of Blakely, Georgia; three brothers, Arthur (Marion) Williams of Damascus, Georgia, Robert (Joann) Early of Orlando, Florida, and Willie C. Williams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; three cousin who were raised as her sister and brother, cousins Mary Alice (Jerry) Young and Benjamin Kegler and the late Oscar Kegler.
Irene loved her children and absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Trenton and Trevor Price, Brittany Broner, KeAundra Williams, Kunetra Wimberly, Kabari George, and Sh’Kayla and Shondrevian Stringer; eight great- grandchildren, Tylan, Taylor, Peyton, Nova Price, Kemarjaye Robinson, Jordan, Jalen, Ja’Erica Eaford, and Kylar Johnson; Irene was blessed to have devoted nieces and nephews that assisted effortlessly in her caregiving once her health began to decline;
Devoted nieces and nephews, Nicole (Michael) King, Arthur Williams, Jr., Fenita and (Richard) Whyte, and Tyrone (Temeka) Williams, all of Blakely, Georgia. She assisted in raising McKinley, Sasha, Antonio and Walter Ed Holmes as her nieces and nephews instead of cousins.
Special memories will be cherished by lifelong friends; Marie Hanks, Sandra Cawthon, Nancy Wright, Joanne Mosely, and Petronia Martin and a bonus daughter, Pam Harris. and her family also extends to countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Irene Williams leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will forever be engraved in the hearts of the ones that loved and knew her.
