Obituary For Antonio Maurice Martin
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens. A time to be born, and a
time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up.” Ecclesiastes 3: 1-3
A Time to Be Born: Antonio Maurice Martin was born in Cordele, Georgia on July 2, 1963, to Bennie
Martin and the late Mary Frances Robinson Martin.
A Time to Learn: He received his elementary and secondary education in the Crisp County School System, graduating from Crisp County High School in 1982. Fondly called “Tony” by family, friends, and
classmates, Antonio was a very outgoing, perceptive young man whose mind never ceased questioning.
While in high school, he gained valuable technical skills; garnered much from his educational experiences; and actively engaged in numerous student-centered activities and functions.
A Time to Plant and Serve: The foundation for Tony’s Christian walk was laid very early in life. As a
youth, he accepted Christ and began his season of stewardship at Hines Memorial Chapel of Albany,
Georgia. In 2018, he united with the Real Church of Albany where he served faithfully as a member of the
Seasoned Salt Ministry. In all things, he was deeply rooted and grounded; and his unwavering faith and
warm spirit touched the lives of everyone in his midst.
A Time to Love: Through his employment, Tony met the love of his life, Christa Dawson; a courtship
ensued; and in May 2000, they were joined in marriage. Together, they built a family and a home that was a haven of love and laughter. Tony’s role as husband and father was one that he cherished above all else; family was always the center of his life.
A Time to Work: Tony’s professional journey in the transportation industry was most rewarding. He began
his work experience as a driver with ACC Food Distributors. In later years, he joined the ranks of truck
operators with J&P Hall Express. For more than 15 years, his uncompromising integrity and his tough-as- nails work ethic were unsurpassed; thus, earning him awards and accolades for his performance and
dedication. His final employment was with the Albany Transit Department where he took great pride in his
driving skills, while ensuring the safe arrival of passengers to their respective destinations. Tony was a loyal, dedicated employee who gave his very BEST throughout his career.
A Time to Embrace: A very hardworking yet fun-loving individual, Anthony embraced life’s experiences
with open arms. His life was rich with pastimes that spoke to his love for the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed beautifying his yard, and savored his grilling skills. His most enjoyable times, however, were spent at family gatherings filled with comical jokes and laughter, listening to music, and holding his little buddy, Falcon.
A Time to Die: On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Tony faced the sunset of his earthly season. He was
preceded in death by his mother, Mary Francis Robinson Martin, and his biological father, Vernon Davis, Jr.
A Time to Cherish: Fond memories will forever be cherished by his wife, Christa Dawson Martin; his
father, Bennie Martin of Mesquite, TX; children, Antrayava Maurice (Vivian) Martin and Krystal Martin of Cordele, GA, Carlos Brown of Valdosta, GA, Amanda Downs and James Webster of Albany, GA, and Keenya Wester of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Tionne Martin of Cordele, GA, Brashon Kendrick and
Naomi Wester of Albany, GA, and Malaysia Wester of Atlanta, GA; great grandchild, Markel Williams of
Atlanta, GA; siblings, Victor Davis, Valton Davis, Vincent Davis, and Verrick Davis all of Cordele, GA, and Michael (Donna) Martin of Edmond, OK; a special aunt and caregiver, Kathy Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
